Sponsorship

Support a reference that takes no side.

Independent · one sponsor at a time

politicalissues.com explains contested American policy questions without arguing for an outcome. Every position is written as its own advocates would write it, in panels of equal size and weight, with no conclusion telling anyone what to think.

That is a difficult thing to build and an easy thing to destroy, which shapes how sponsorship works here.

The rules, stated plainly

  • Sponsors have no editorial input. None. No advance review of explainers, no input on which issues are covered, no ability to request changes to how any position is described.
  • One sponsor per placement at a time. No rotation, no auction, no programmatic inventory. Your organization is the only one in that space for the term.
  • Category exclusivity is available and priced accordingly.
  • Flat monthly rate, not cost per impression. You are supporting a reference work, not buying reach.
  • Every placement is clearly marked as support. Nothing on this site is written by a sponsor or presented as editorial when it is not.
  • We decline sponsors whose participation would compromise the neutrality of the sections they would appear in. That judgment is ours and it is not negotiable.

Placements

Sidebar

Site-wide presence

A unit in the right rail beneath the newsletter, on every issue page. Logo, one sentence, and a link.

Steady visibility across all coverage. The most straightforward way to be present on the site.

Issue band

A single explainer

A full-width unit placed directly below the positions on one issue page.

Deliberately positioned after a reader has seen every side of the argument, never between them. Ties an organization to the issue it works on, without appearing to endorse any position within it.

Section patron

An entire category

Recognition beside a category heading on the home page, and across the issues within that section.

Best suited to trade associations, membership organizations, and academic programs with a durable interest in a subject area.

Who this fits

Trade and membership associations, professional societies, university programs and research centers, foundations, libraries, and civic organizations. Anyone whose interest is in the public understanding a debate rather than in winning it.

We are more cautious with organizations that actively lobby on an issue they would appear alongside. That is not an automatic no, but it is a conversation, and in some sections it is a no.

The audience

Small, deliberate, and unusually senior. This is a reference, not a news site: people arrive to understand a question before forming a view, and a meaningful share of them work in government affairs, association leadership, policy, and communications. We report traffic honestly and will not pretend it is larger than it is.
